That is true for simply taking on any wife, as a king may be wed to many women by the state and in the affairs of the city-state, but for a royal consort, someone granted special privileges it is no small matter. Those marriages, or attempts, are quite separate. For someone of my ... heritage [ he doesn't want to say god/divine, but you know. ] ... we enter into quite intense emotions when such matters arise. Rationality in your concept thereof does not factor into it.
